Professor Mattias Lorentzon



Mattias Lorentzon is a professor in geriatric medicine at the Institute of Medicine, Gothenburg University and a senior physician at the Osteoporosis Clinic at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Mölndal. He is also the director of the national Clinical Osteoporosis Research School (CORS) and chairman of the regional osteoporosis committee as well as the champion of the Sahlgrenska University Hospital Fracture Liaison Service. He has been president of the Swedish Osteoporosis Society (2011-2015) and has served as an expert reviewer in outlining diagnosis and treatment guidelines for the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) since 2009. He has made a significant contribution in the osteoporosis research field, with 129 peer-reviewed publications and over 7000 citations (Sept 2016).

Mainly clinical studies investigating the role of genetic and environmental factors, especially physical activity, on bone microstructure, geometry, and fracture risk.
